Doing Well by Doing Good: Hello Green Tomorrow’s Halo Award!

posted under Atlantic Rainforest, Recycle, Reduce, Replant, Rethink, Reuse

Chicago, June 2, 2011. Bryan Harding of The Nature Conservancy and Susan Arnot Heaney of Avon Products, Inc, receive the Cause Marketing Halo Award for the Hello Green Tomorrow program from David Hessekiel of the Cause Marketing Forum.

Just in time for Green Week, we are proud and delighted that the Avon Hello Green Tomorrow program was awarded a Halo Award from the Cause Marketing Forum.  The Halo Award recognizes the best cause marketing programs in North America that partner companies with charities for meaningful impact on important causes!

While we love the recognition for the Hello Green Tomorrow, the best measurement of our success is the impact:  over $2 million was raised and 5,000 acres restored in the critically endangered Atlantic Rain Forest in South America through Hello Green Tomorrow 2010.  And the program continues in 50 countries this year as well.

But behind Avon Hello Green Tomorrow is a deep commitment to environmental stewardship across Avon’s business:

-We were recently the first cosmetics company in the world to announce a commitment to 100% sourcing of sustainable palm oil, pledging to buy enough GreenPalm certificates to cover all of our global palm oil use.

-We continue to be committed to our Paper Promise,  focused on reducing our overall use of paper, supporting responsible forest management and helping drive the protection forests.

-We have made a significant commitment to green building design across all new facilities around the world. So far, this has resulted in the achievement of LEED Gold, BREEAM and equivalent certifications for facilities in Brazil, the U.S. and the U.K., with more facilities in development in Colombia and China.
